Hotels in Paris

I have always found Paris fascinating. With a history dating back thousands of years, the French capital is full of beautiful hotels that welcome tourists, but also provincials who want to get lost in Montmartre or visit the triumphant Eiffel Tower.

I want to introduce you to the emblematic hotels of Paris, their neighborhoods and their stories. If you want to offer a dream stay to your partner, make the right choice. Here are 5 must-see hotels to spend a good time in love.

The Grand Hotel du Palais Royal

In the heart of the 1st arrondissement of Paris, the Grand Hôtel du Palais Royal welcomes you in a superb building dating from the 18th century, classified as a historical monument. Just a few steps away, you can visit the sublime gardens of the Palais Royal, of which Richelieu was the patron, as well as the Louvre Museum and the Comédie Française.

Divided between deluxe rooms and panoramic suites with balconies overlooking Paris, the hotel has welcomed illustrious personalities over the years. Actors, writers and various politicians have come to stay and dine in the kitchens of Chef Baptiste Orieux.

The 1st arrondissement of Paris is the ideal place to discover the city from its heart.

The InterContinental Paris Le Grand

Do I really need to introduce L’interContinental? The Legend of the Second Empire was inaugurated in 1862 by Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III. Its 800 Second Empire style rooms make this prestigious hotel the largest in the world for its time.

Moreover, many personalities and members of royal families from around the world have come to mark their presence on the walls of the InterContinental. Its location, in the heart of the Opera district, makes this hotel a strategic and charming place to visit the most beautiful parts of Paris.

The Peninsula Paris

Remember the address I’m about to give you: 19, avenue Kléber. It is in this alley that you will find a venerable witness to the history of France in the 20th century. The Peninsula, inaugurated in 1908, has seen the two great wars and was even occupied by the men of the Third Reich. It was here, in 1973, that the agreements ending the Vietnam War were signed. The Peninsula Paris was rehabilitated and renovated before reopening its doors in 2014 in place of the Majestic. The Peninsula Paris enters the list of the Great of the world of luxury hotels.

The Lutetia Hotel

On the left bank of the Seine, stands proud and majestic, a hotel whose beauty is only preceded by its excellent reputation. A favorite haunt of international stars and singers, the Hotel Lutetia has 160 finely decorated rooms, 29 of which overlook the Tuileries Gardens.

However, the history of the Lutetia has not always been a quiet river. Inaugurated in 1910, the hotel was requisitioned and occupied by the German army. In 1944, it was transformed into a reception center. However, it allowed great personalities to stay there, including James Joyce during the writing of Ulysses and Albert Cohen wrote Belle du Seigneur.

Le Meurice

The oldest Parisian palace began construction in 1815 and opened its doors 20 years later. The Hotel des Rois welcomed many crowned heads at the end of the 19th century. In 1855, Her Majesty Queen Victoria stayed there during her official visit to Paris. Always on the cutting edge, in 1899, the Meurice was the first hotel to have a telephone. A revolution in the Paris of the 1900s. Located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, it remains an essential hotel to enjoy the capital and its historical monuments, museums and prestigious restaurants.
