Almost constant sunshine, a laid-back Californian vibe, embraced diversity, but above all… an LGBTQ scene that truly rivals San Francisco<\/a><\/strong> or even Los Angeles. You can explore this city as many times as you like. Each time you visit, you’ll discover a new side. Whether you’re coming with family, as a couple, or just chilling solo, San Diego will welcome you.<\/p>\n

Here’s a short guide designed to help you travel freely, with or without glitter.<\/p>\n

How to get there?<\/h2>\n

From Los Angeles<\/h3>\n

If you’re in LA, San Diego is literally a two-hour drive. Interstate 5 will take you straight south, and frankly, you’ll enjoy a pleasant ride, especially along the coast. If you don’t have a car, the Amtrak train<\/a> is, I promise you, a real gem: comfortable seats, ocean views, and a direct arrival in the city center. For a quick getaway, it’s ideal.<\/p>\n

From Las Vegas<\/h3>\n

From this city, you have two choices: road or plane. The road will take you 5 to 6 hours. If you like driving, this will be a real mini road trip for you.<\/p>\n

By air, you’ll save time. Allow 1 hour and 15 minutes for the flight. You’ll also have several flights throughout the day, and they’re generally well priced.<\/p>\n

What to do with the family?<\/h2>\n

San Diego Zoo and San Diego Safari Park<\/h3>\n

Even if you’re not an animal lover, these two places are truly impressive. The area is immense and particularly committed to conservation. If you’re looking for a day of escape, the San Diego Zoo is a must-see<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Safari Park, for its part, will transport you to another world. Aboard an open-air vehicle for a guided tour through the park’s plains, you’ll have the pleasure of encountering antelopes, giraffes, and even rhinoceroses. It’s impossible to remain indifferent to these animals roaming in semi-wild conditions.<\/p>\n

Birch Aquarium<\/h3>\n

Located in La Jolla, this small aquarium is perfect for a quiet morning. Tropical fish, hypnotic jellyfish, and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. I assure you, this spot is a true haven of peace.<\/p>\n

California Water Sport: Rent a Boat<\/h3>\n

You can rent a boat there, with or without a license, for a trip on the bay. Why not bring a picnic on board, listen to soft music, or enjoy the view of the skyline? It’s relaxing and truly accessible. With kids, it’ll be a wonderful adventure; as a couple, it’s a moment that’s definitely romantic.<\/p>\n

Coronado Beach<\/h3>\n

This place is worthy of the most beautiful postcards. Close your eyes and imagine a long white sand beach, calm water, and a breathtaking view of the Hotel del Coronado. The place is extremely clean and family-friendly. You’ll feel right at home, no matter your style. You’ll also have a good chance of running into queer families. So, don’t hesitate!<\/p>\n

What to do as a couple?<\/h2>\n

San Diego Wine Country<\/h3>\n

An hour’s drive away, Temecula awaits you with its vineyards. Wine lovers will be in heaven<\/a>. Tasting, strolling among the vines, watching the sunset. I know, it sounds a bit clich\u00e9, but it’s so lovely. You probably didn’t know it, but some wineries are run by LGBTQ+ couples, and the welcome will be warm no matter what. You’ll experience a day for two, just the way we all love it!<\/p>\n

Public Liberty Market<\/h3>\n

For this gourmet market, you’ll have to return to Liberty Station. World cuisine, wine bars, and desserts to die for. I should warn you, however, that this covered market is lively, noisy, but super romantic, even more so if you share a plate with someone else. In the evening, the atmosphere becomes more intimate and the people are more open.<\/p>\n

California Watersport Kayak<\/h3>\n

Want to rent a double kayak to paddle along the cliffs? Then head straight to La Jolla to paddle as a couple. If you’re lucky, you might encounter sea lions and even dolphins. This outing is fun, active, and, above all, perfect for creating precious memories together.<\/p>\n

Looking for a combination of nature and freedom? Look no further, Black Beach is for you! Bring sturdy shoes, as this beach is only accessible after a somewhat steep walk.
