Formerly owned by businessman, film producer and heir to the A&P supermarket fortune George Huntington Hartford II, the hotel was completely renovated in 2016 in the Bahamian colonial style.<\/p>\n

The Caribbean, an idyllic setting<\/h2>\n

Lobby, restaurants, private villas, rooms, take place in several buildings of only two floors whose opaline facades are the same color as the sand of the nearby beach; an architecture that fits ideally into the hotel’s fourteen acres of lawns and gardens. The main building is inspired by the Georgian style in reference to the planters who were ruined by the abolition of slavery after the victory of the North in the Civil War and who came to settle in the Bahamas.<\/p>\n

The roof overhangs, supported by slender Abaco Island pine columns, are decorated with mantling and friezes, protecting a terrace where you can cool off. The Hartford Wing features 50 rooms ranging in size from 42 to 51 square meters overlooking the ocean or garden, plus a 91 square meter Luxury Ocean Suite. All were decorated by Jeffrey Beers, the star architect of singular hotel residences. Mahogany furniture, louvered doors opening onto a terrace or balcony with breathtaking views, soft king size beds, marble bathrooms with double sinks, rain showers and large oval bathtubs, I think everything here has been designed for the optimal well-being of guests.<\/p>\n

The Crescent Wing is a series of buildings facing the sea. The bright and sober decoration of the rooms is directly inspired by the natural splendor of the place. All rooms have a balcony or terrace, air conditioning, bathroom with shower and bathtub, television and minibar.<\/p>\n

The hotel offers a few private villas with swimming pools and patios for privacy. The interiors, designed by Adam D. Tihany, one of the world’s most famous contemporary architects, are vibrant and designer, with custom-made furniture inlaid with straw and Brazilian cherry wood covering the floors.<\/p>\n

Finally, the 2 residential villas accommodate 8 to 10 people. 410 m2 of ultra luxury with private infinity pool, fully equipped kitchen and direct private access to the beach. You will enjoy Carrara marble floors, vaulted ceilings, and a team of housekeepers available 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n

3 pools for 3 atmospheres<\/h2>\n

In this ocean of luxury, three pools invite you to relax. The first one is reserved only for adults who want to swim and enjoy the calm of the environment. Children can have fun in a lagoon-shaped pool specially designed for families.<\/p>\n

Finally, the last one built in 2015 is overflowing, giving the perfect illusion that it is integrated into the landscape. Water line and horizon line merge to form a single space, a unique and privileged place in which it must be absolutely divine to bask.<\/p>\n

Gastronomy and cocktail stars<\/h2>\n

At Le Dune, French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten was given the mission to excite the palate of the guests. Trained by Paul Bocuse, he has concocted a French-Asian fusion cuisine that honors the specialties and diversity of Caribbean products. Between land and sea, the Bahamian cuisine is exotic, spicy and sophisticated: sweet potato, green okra, yam, chayote for vegetables, pineapple, coconut, citron, papaya, carambola, guava for fruits, swordfish, grouper, lobster and wahoo for fish.<\/p>\n

Overlooking the infinity pool, the New Ocean Pool is open daily with continuous service from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., a great place to enjoy a famous local specialty of conch or lambi, a crustacean whose flesh is known to be tasty.<\/p>\n

Finally, from 11am to 11pm, the Martini Bar and Lounge, run by barista Keith Cash, offers appetizers and star cocktails, including the famous Vesper Martini: three measures of gin, one measure of vodka and half a measure of Lillet Blanc, a wine-based aperitif produced near Bordeaux.<\/p>\n
